Re: [sipx-users] Using an Internet VoIP provider (SIP Trunking?)
Hi Andrew,
Unfortunately Engin don't provide a true SIP Trunking service (or at
least none their sales reps seem to know about).
They expect to see a phone (aka user agent) on the other end of the link
rather than a PBX. To make your Engin account
work with sipX you'll need a Back to Back User Agent (B2BUA) -
essentially two user agents strapped together that register
with Engin and act as a bridge between phone and PBX.
Theres a few ways to do this (our current solution involves using
asterisk as a gateway . . . yuck!) but the easiest way would
probably be to give the latest dev release of sipX a go - the sipXbridge
component should give you the B2BUA functions you
need. I'm yet to test it, but others have reported success and we're
hoping to use it as soon as version 4.0 goes stable.

Hi All,
After having looked through the wiki (and lots of Googling) I still
can't seem to work out how to do this, or even if it is possible at
this stage (we are using sipX 3.10 from the ISO)
We have setup a trial account with an Internet VoIP provider and they
have given us the following info:
Username/Login: ********
Password: ********
Primary SIP Server Address: syd.byo.engin.com.au
Secondary SIP Server Address: mel.byo.engin.com.au
SIP Proxy: byo.engin.com.au
Registered Time Out: 900 seconds
I would like to use them for some of our dial plans with sipX falling
back to the PSTN gateways in the event of problems. I assume I should
be configuring them as a gateway but I see no mention of how to
configure the username and password.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
