I don't see how it's "counter-productive" - granted, it's more trouble
to set up.
I'd actually argue that it's more secure to do it that way, since having
one sipXecs system compromised does not provide access to the backups of
the other systems. But security and convenience are always a tradeoff.

The issue is there - by all means Vote for it (we do pay some attention
to those Votes), and Watch it so that you'll see when it gets worked on.
