I had proposed that the Polycom firmware distributed in our ISOs would
be Activated by default. Perhaps it should instead be Inactive?
Polycom sets that are running 1.6 firmware at the time of the upgrade
will have a problem when they pick up their new profile. They will not
understand the new configuration file format, and will (I think) go into
a reboot loop.
An administrator can resolve the problem by activating a good Polycom
firmware version. The rebooting phones will then upgrade their
firmware, parse the new configuration file, and boot normally.
But still as Damian says, we should advise the administrator to upgrade
any Polycoms running 1.6 firmware _before_ the upgrade.
